About
We are Nanhara.
An AI-native company. We build AI applications with AI — on the hara foundation, we ship real, live products across directions like Eastern Wisdom, entertainment, and investing.
The Name
The Wilderness of the South
The name Nanhara (南荒) comes from the Classic of Mountains and Seas: "In the south there is a wilderness, and in that wilderness a mountain called Song Mountain" — the wilderness of the south.
We chose it because the character 荒 carries two meanings in Chinese at once: uncultivated and free. The intersection of AI and traditional wisdom is still a southern wilderness in 2026: no map exists, no template to copy, every product form is still emerging.
Nanhara chose to camp in this wilderness. We don't pretend there's already a road — we admit we are the ones breaking ground. Together with our AI agents.
The English name Nanhara is a transliteration, preserving its Eastern sound — we chose not to translate it as "Southern Wild" or similar. A name should travel the world carrying the language it was born in.
九死南荒吾不恨,兹游奇绝冠平生。
— Su Shi (苏轼) · Crossing the Sea, Night of the 20th, Sixth Month (1100)
Even nine deaths in the wild south I do not resent — this voyage, in all its strangeness, surpasses anything in my life. Written by Su Shi after three years of exile in Hainan, returning north by sea.
How We Think
Three Pillars
Pillar I
Build AI applications with AI
We don't just use AI to build products — we turn AI engineering itself into a foundation (hara), then use it to ship real apps fast across one direction after another. The method transfers, and that's the fundamental reason we can span directions.
Pillar II
One capability, many directions
Eastern Wisdom, entertainment, and investing are live; health and education are on the way — the same AI engineering capability, delivered again and again across different directions. Breadth isn't distraction; it's proof the capability transfers.
Pillar III
Prove it on ourselves first, then open source it to you
This AI-native way of building was first proven inside Nanhara's own operations, then open-sourced into a product — hara. We're its first user, so when something breaks, we feel it first.
Foundation
One foundation × many directions
At the bottom is hara — the foundation for the AI application layer; on top are AI + direction products, one after another. One capability, many outlets.
